It is normal for a person to feel panic but for some this becomes uncontrolled and turns in to a full blown panic attack.? Learning To Cope With Panic And Anxiety

Coping with panic attacks is not easy. They are some of the most life- changing and damaging events in a person will ever face. And people that have to live with this disorder will spend countless hours trying to find the right combination of doctors and medicine to help them cope with this very difficult problem that they face.

Stress and anxiety are things we all must face, at least to a certain degree, but a panic attack is a great deal of fear in a situation that most people don’t consider unusually bad. Some sufferers are able to identify the things that bring on the anxiety, or triggers, and others are not.

Most of us will agree that public speaking is very stressful and can understand why people might “panic” in this situation. However, panic attacks victims can have these feeling in a car in heavy traffic or just walking into a store.

Overcoming Panic Attacks – How You Can Overcome Anxiety and Panic The Way I Did

It’s the same story with all of us suffering from panic attacks symptoms. We suffer, we think that the best way of overcoming panic attacks should be to visit a doctor. We do, and the doctor does one of the following:

  • Prescribe us some panic attack treatment drugs that make us dizzy, and above all, doesn’t help to cure our anxiety attacks.
  • Tell us that “it’s all inside our heads” and recommend us some self relaxation techniques that are meant to distract the symptoms, not to cure our anxiety attacks.

I have been there. I was doing those while this whole problem was eating my life away; I was doing those while I was unable to get out of my house, I was on the verge of losing my job, my wife, my kids, my family and my life. No, I didn’t want to learn how to Cope With Panic Attacks. I wanted to learn how to get rid of panic attacks completely.

And I did that. I was taught how to overcome anxiety and panic disorder. And I was able to accomplish this – overcoming panic attacks. Naturally, it wasn’t thanks to any “coping” techniques – it was thanks to a technique that was meant to go head to head with the fear and kill it.

The right way of treating panic disorder is to face your fear. Picture yourself over an edge right now – anxiety and panic are pushing you further to the edge. The techniques for coping with anxiety aren’t working and it becomes worse day per day. You are afraid of having another panic attack. This fear itself raises your stress and anxiety, and makes a panic attack likely. So, the panic attack can feed on itself to create an ever-growing cycle of fear.

You must break this cycle of fear by wanting to have a panic attack. I know it sounds scary, but this is how you can cure your anxiety disorder.

Remember that analogy to you being pushed to the edge? Jump. Jump from the cliff yourself, into your fears and anxiety. Yes, it feels horrible and your senses are heightened, but medically, there is no harm done. Jump there, knowing that there can come no harm to you.

And you will see for yourself that the fall becomes a three inch drop. You are safe. You have always been safe.

When you rush to the hospital with your panic attack, you may be given medications. However, generally panic attacks are treated with relaxation techniques and reassurance.

Relaxation is the basis for any foundation to deal with panic attacks, GAD or any other phobia. Relaxation is not simply zoning out in front of the TV or having a tub of popcorn; it is deep, mind relaxation. Think meditation or yoga type relaxation where you reach a state of mind and body calm.

Deep relaxation on a daily basis allows your body and mind to experience the complete opposite sensations of a panic attack. Your heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, muscle tension, metabolic rate and analytical thinking all decrease as you free your mind and body into this deep state.

Practicing deep relaxation through meditation for 20-30 minutes everyday can provide not only a reduction in your generalized anxiety, and panic attacks but also can prevent stress from becoming cumulative, increase your energy level, improve concentration and increase self-confidence.

This is a powerful tool in combating the emotional rigors of daily life. It is important you stick with deep relaxation, you might not see a change for several weeks or even months but over time you will notice a deeper calm and happiness in your life. You may not be cured of panic attacks but you will experience them less frequently and you will find yourself better able to cope with them and recover from the experience.

There are many ways to achieve a state of deep relaxation. The easiest way is to probably join a meditation or yoga class that focuses on meditation and have someone guide you through the process.
